What is Soolantra?
Soolantra is a cream treatment for rosacea, a long-term condition that causes patches of red, inflamed skin. It usually affects your nose and cheeks.[1]
The active ingredient in Soolantra, ivermectin, has anti-parasitic and anti-inflammatory properties that can ease irritation and inflammation.
Who is Soolantra for?
Soolantra can be prescribed for adults with facial rosacea. Moderate to severe rosacea can sometimes cause pustules to appear on the skin which can easily become infected. Using Soolantra daily can help reduce bumps and pustules so your skin can heal.
How does Soolantra work?
The active ingredient in Soolantra, ivermectin, is a broad-spectrum antiparasitic agent. Ivermectin was primarily used as a veterinary medicine because it can help destroy parasites.
Microscopic parasites called Demodex mites are often present in large numbers on the skin of people with rosacea.[2] Although they’re usually harmless, a large amount of them can trigger an immune response that causes rosacea symptoms like inflammation and redness. Soolantra can ease this inflammation while clearing your skin of any harmful parasites.
Does Soolantra come in different doses?
Soolantra is available as a 10mg/g cream. You’ll apply a small, pea-sized amount to each area of your face that’s affected, like each cheek, nose, and chin, once a day.
