Like any medication you take, E.E.S. could cause some side effects (but they don’t affect everyone). If you get a red, scaly rash with bumps under the skin and blisters, contact your doctor immediately. This could be signs of a serious skin reaction called exanthematous pustulosis.
Likewise, if you notice any of the following symptoms, stop taking your medicine and contact a doctor right away – they could be signs of an allergic reaction:
- Difficulty breathing
- Fainting
- Swelling in your face, lips, or throat
- Severe skin reactions (large blisters, sores, ulcers in the mouth or throat)
Other E.E.S. side effects could include:
- Diarrhea
- Nausea or vomiting
- Stomach pains (this could be a sign of pancreatitis)
- Ringing in the ears
- Reversible loss of hearing
- Yellowing of the eyes or skin (this could be a sign of liver or gall bladder problems)
- Chest pain
- Irregular or elevated heart rate
- Fever
- Loss of appetite
- Confusion
- Seizures
- Vertigo
- Hallucinations
- Low blood pressure
- Blurred vision
