What is Clindacin?
Clindacin is the branded version of Clindamycin, an antibiotic that stops bacteria growing. It’s used to treat folliculitis, a condition that causes your hair follicles to become inflamed, often caused by a bacterial infection.
How does Clindacin work?
Clindamycin, the active ingredient in Clindacin, is an antibiotic. It works by stopping protein production, which prevents bacterial growth and eventually kills them. [1]
What forms does Clindacin come in?
Clindacin comes in two forms: Clindacin P and Clindacin ETZ.
Clindacin P comes as soaked pads (pledgets), which are useful for smaller areas, like the beard. Clindacin ETZ also comes as a pledget (swab) that contains around 1ml of topical solution.
There’s also Clindacin foam, which is a different formulation (Clindacin P and Clindacin ETZ both come as pledgets soaked in a liquid containing the active ingredient), which we don’t supply at the moment.
Will I get side effects using Clindacin?
There’s a chance of experiencing side effects when using Clindacin. The most common side effects are burning, itching, redness, and dryness on the treated area. These side effects should be mild and go away once you stop treatment.
What doses of Clindacin are there?
Both Clindacin P and ETZ come in one dose containing 1% clindamycin phosphate.
