What is Cefixime?
Cefixime is a type of cephalosporin antibiotic that can be used off-label to treat sinusitis. Cefixime is typically used to treat infections like UTIs, ear infections, throat infections, chest infections, and gonorrhea – but it’s also thought to be a safe and effective treatment for sinusitis.
How does Cefixime work?
Cefixime works by interfering with the cell wall of bacteria that can cause sinusitis. It inhibits the bacteria’s ability to synthesize a cell wall, and without a cell wall, the bacteria dies off.[1] This should help clear up sinusitis, and stop it from spreading or returning.
How do Cefixime doses work?
Cefixime comes in 200 mg and 400 mg film-coated tablets, but we currently only stock the 400 mg tablets.
What is the active ingredient in Cefixime?
Cefixime is a generic medication that’s named after its active ingredient: cefixime. It’s a cephalosporin antibiotic that fights off bacterial infections by stopping bacteria responsible from synthesizing a cell wall. This kills off the bacteria and stops them from spreading.
