Ginger, mint tea and yoghurt smoothie
A cool, refreshing smoothie that’s good for low appetite – and soothing your stomach
Ingredients
- Ginger tea (or fresh ginger)
- Mint leaves
- ½ cup of greek yoghurt
- 1 banana, sliced (ideally frozen)
- Honey to taste (optional)
- A few ice cubes (optional, for a colder smoothie)
When you’re new to weight loss injections, or if you’ve just increased your dose, symptoms like heartburn and nausea can be really common. This is because they work by slowing down digestion, meaning the food you eat, and the acid your stomach produces, can stick around longer than usual.
This smoothie helps combat these symptoms because it’s full of nausea-busting ingredients (ginger and mint), and it’s nice and cool — which can be helpful if you’ve got a low appetite.
Instructions:
- Start by brewing a strong cup of ginger and mint tea. Use 1-2 tea bags or fresh ginger slices and combine with a few fresh mint leaves. Remove the tea bags after around five minutes and allow the tea to cool completely, or make it in advance and refrigerate.
- In a blender*, combine the cooled ginger and mint tea with the yoghurt, frozen banana slices and honey (if using). Add a few ice cubes if you’d prefer it colder.
- Blend on high until the mixture is smooth and creamy. If the smoothie is too thick, you can add a little more tea or water to reach your desired consistency.
*If you don’t have a blender, use a large bowl or jug to combine the cooled tea with the yoghurt. Use a whisk to mix thoroughly until the mixture is smooth and uniform. Pour over ice and stir well.
