Vitamins

Definition:

Vitamins are organic molecules that are essential for an organism in small quantities for proper metabolic function. They’re essential nutrients that your body can’t make enough of on its own, so you need to get them from the food you eat. There are 13 essential vitamins for humans.

  • Fat-soluble vitamins: A, D, E, and K. These vitamins are stored in your liver, fatty tissue and muscles.
  • Water soluble vitamins: Eight B vitamins and vitamin C. These vitamins aren’t stored in the body, so any leftover or excess amounts leave your body when you wee.
