Sarcopenia
Definition:
Sarcopenia is the age-related loss of muscle mass and strength. It’s a gradual process that happens to everyone as they get older.
Muscle loss can start as early as your 30s, but it accelerates after age 60.[1] By the time you’re 80, you may have lost up to 50% of your muscle mass.[2]
Sarcopenia can make it harder to do every-day activities, such as climbing stairs, getting out of a chair, and carrying things. It can increase your risk of falls, fractures and disability.
