Hyperglycaemia
Definition:
Hyperglycaemia is where your blood sugar (glucose) levels are too high. It primarily affects people with diabetes but, under certain circumstances (like illness or infection, certain medications, or diet and lifestyle choices), it can affect people without the condition.
Symptoms of hyperglycaemia include:
- Increased thirst
- Frequent urination
- Blurred vision
- Fatigue
- Weight loss
- Increased appetite
- Fruity breath
If left untreated, hyperglycaemia can lead to a range of serious health complications. [1]
