Glycogen

Definition:

Glycogen is a large molecule made up of many connected glucose molecules. This allows your body to store extra glucose for later use, in your liver and your muscles.

When your blood sugar levels drop, your liver breaks down glycogen into glucose and releases it back into your bloodstream. This helps to keep your blood sugar levels stable. Your muscles also use glycogen for energy, especially during exercise. [1]
